Karthik was recognized for his rare combination of vision and sustained leadership in STARS, where he remained deeply engaged throughout medical school and consistently elevated peers with his innovation and energy. He led the building of the HealthValueLab website, founded the UCSD Value-Based Medicine Case Competition, and contributed nationally through the STARS Clerkship Taskforce and developing a hospital price transparency database. His legacy is one of turning ambitious ideas into lasting, scalable resources that continue to benefit learners across the country.

Karthik is now an Internal Medicine Intern at UCLA. He is interested in the intersection of high-value care, improving patient centered outcomes, and novel uses of data in medicine. When he is not being an intern, he likes to spend time trying new restaurants in LA with his wife and going to weekly trivia nights.
