STARS has engaged more than 800 students from over 60 schools nationwide, driving 100+ quality improvement projects, national presentations, and curricular innovations, and is proudly delivered by the 501c3 nonprofit Costs of Care.

About STARS

STARS (Students and Trainees Advocating for Resource Stewardship) empowers participants to "lead from where you stand" - developing curricula, student groups, national challenges, award programs, podcasts, journal clubs, and other innovative projects that amplify high-value care in medical education.

National Conference

For the first time, STARS will host a National Conference in Chicago in 2026, bringing together students and faculty from across the country.

This event will showcase student-led projects, foster cross-institutional collaborations, and amplify the voices of future leaders in high-value care.
